Abstract

One of the important issues covered by toponymy, that is, the study of place names, is the analysis of the formation of toponymic compound nouns, their lexical and grammatical forms, and their specific features in the language system. Toponymic compound nouns, by their content and essence, allow for a clear and expressive expression of place names, and also reflect the historical, cultural and geographical thinking of the people. These nouns have a complex lexical and grammatical structure and arise on the basis of the axiomatic principle, that is, as a result of the combination of several independent words. Toponymic compound nouns are widely used in the creation of place names, in which a new meaning, a new designation is formed mainly by combining two or more words.
