Mazkur maqolada Amerika Qo‘shma Shtatlarining janubiy hududlaridagi adabiyotida shakllangan “Amerika” milliy obrazining tadqiqiy muammosi tarixiy-adabiy jarayon sifatida tahlil qilinadi. Tadqiqotda janubga xos adabiy-intellektual anʼanada “Amerika” konsepsiyasining o‘ziga xos chegaraviy tabiati, uning badiiy matnlarda qurilish mexanizmlari va evolyutsion bosqichlari yoritiladi. Maqolada imagologiya, mifokritika va postkolonial tadqiqotlar metodologik asos sifatida qo‘llanilgan. Natijalarda Janub Renessansi davridan hozirgi kungacha kechgan ilmiy refleksiyaning to‘rt bosqichi apologetik, formalistik-akademik, madaniyatshunoslik va dekonstruktiv bosqichlar atroflicha tahlil etiladi. Adabiy tahlilda Uilyam Folkner, Allen Teyt, Robert Penn Uorren, Flanneri O‘Konnor kabi yozuvchilarning asarlaridan olingan parchalar vositasida “Amerika” obrazining badiiy evolyutsiyasi va uning fobiya, filiya hamda utopiya elementlarini uyg‘unlashtirgan gibrid tabiati ochib berilgan. Maqola janub adabiyotidagi “Amerika” obrazini bir millat ichidagi “ichki o‘zga” muammosi sifatida qayta konseptuallashtirish zarurligini asoslaydi.
